Weddings

We at St. Jame and St. Brendans are allies of our LGBTQ2 community, and we welcome all enquiries about weddings.

It is important to understand that a church wedding is more than a service with a pretty background for pictures. It is a religious service, a sacrament of the Christian community, provided within the worship space of the Christian community. We receive a number of requests each year from couples belonging to other congregations who wish to be married here by a minister from their own Church because our Church is “Pretty.” The clergy and people of St. James and St. Brendan have a strong commitment to ecumenism and desire that our Church is an open and welcoming place for all people. However, one needs to keep in mind that Jody, our Rector, has an obligation to oversee all ceremonies that take place in our church building.

The only clergy authorized to witness marriages in St. James and St. Brendan are the clergy licensed and appointed by an Anglican Bishop and is in good standing with their Diocese. Ministers from other denominations are welcome and invited to participate in the ceremony at the discretion of the rector. The rector will make sure that the visiting minister(s) are made to feel welcome and will discuss with them ways in which they may participate in the ceremony.

Should you decide to fill out an application form, they are available at the Church office from the clergy on Sunday, or you can complete one electronically by clicking HERE and completing then emailing it to the church office. Hard copies can be dropped off at the parish office.

For enquiries, please call the church office at (905) 834-3184 or email questions to anglicanoffice@gmail.com.
