St. J&B: Your Community Centred Church
Holy Week and Easter at St. James & St. Brendan
-
Maundy Thursday
April 2nd, 7pm
Give thanks for the institution of the Lord's Supper.
The feet of the congregation are washed so that we may be reminded of Christ's humble service and thereby share it with others.
The night ends with the stripping of the altar as a reminder of Christ's abandonment by those he came to serve and his entry into the suffering of humanity.

Good Friday
April 3rd, 11am
Through Christ's sacrifice of himself on the Cross for us the relationship between God and humans was restored as a foretaste and promise of the fact that that restoration will be extended to all relationships and things.
At St. J&B our worship this morning is The Service of the Nails, an hour-long meditation on Jesus' Passion. There will be silence and music. There is time to express grief at the reality of our sin and gratitude that God has, at great cost, overcome that sin and suffering.
-
Easter Vigil
Saturday April 4th, 7pm
Easter begins at sunset on Holy Saturday.
As darkness fills the sky congregations gather to proclaim and celebrate the light of Christ's resurrection scattering the darkness by lighting the new fire, processing the paschal candle (which represents the resurrected Christ) into the darkened Church, and renewing our baptismal promises (which we made when we entered into Christ's resurrection at our baptism).
