How do you know if a church is filled with the Spirit?  How can you tell if the gospel is taking root in people's lives?  What signs of life can we look for to tell us: "It's alive!!??"  Today we examine the first church and discover the tell-tale sign of life:  "Togetherness".  The first church "was together" (Acts 2:44) - they loved each other!  They couldn't get enough of each other!  In the temple, in their homes, during the day, in the evening... always together!  Today we explore how this togetherness made the first church an amazing community.

2000 years ago, Peter stood up and preached the first Christian sermon on the Day of Pentecost.  Innumerable sermons have been preached since that day, and yet his has stood the test of time, and stands as an example to preachers and Christians everywhere.  Join us this Sunday as we examine Peter's words taken from Acts 2 and explore what it means for us as we continue to proclaim the gospel today in our churches, our communities, and homes.

We continue our look at Acts 1-3, and on this Pentecost Sunday we look at how the Holy Spirit was poured out on those early Christians.  What does it all mean?  The sound of wind?  The tongues of fire?  The speaking in different languages?  Today we discover that the Holy Spirit conveys the Power of God, creates the Presence of God, and calls out the People of God.

A Church Is Born - "First Beliefs"

Today we begin our five-week look at the early church in order to learn how to better "be the church" today here is Port Colborne.  When a child is born we immediately begin to look for clues and hints about what they will be like, what makes them unique.

The same is true of the first church.  When it was born 2000 years ago we immediately begin to see the first signs of what kind of church this will be.  We can observe their first beliefs, listen to their first sermons, watch their first miracles and so on.  Today we begin in Acts 1:1-11, and already we can see the first, core beliefs that made that first century church explode with energy and new life.
